Arisaig Retreat is 100% off grid. No mains power, no mains water, no mains nothing! All our electro-juice comes from the sun and our liquid-juice comes from the sky.

For me it's an incredibly rewarding feeling knowing that guests can come here, run a workshop and have little to no impact on the current global climate issues we are facing.

Our kitchen is stocked with the basic implements you would expect in a typical country kitchen. Pots, pans knives, cutlery and crockery for about 30 guests. If you need a more extensive selection of implements please feel free to contact us to discuss your needs.

We employ a composting toilet solution here at Arisaig Retreat.

Some of our previous guests have initially expressed uncertainty toward composting toilets, but once they have used our toilets they quickly find out there was no need to be apprehensive.

Our composting toilets are very clean, they don't smell bad and they are incredibly environmentally friendly.

Every time you visit the toilet here at Arisaig Retreat you are actually doing us a big favour. Every "deposit" you drop off with us is added to our compost. After a few years of composting, we use this rich organic matter to feed our plants, vegetables and orchard.

We have 2 piping hot showers in our shower block for you to refresh your body after you have refreshed your mind. Don't be fooled, just because were off-grid does not mean we have rubbish water pressure.

We generate all our power from the sun and store that in our battery bank. For most people our set-up works great but there are a few situations where there may be some limitations on power usage. If you have a need for more that 5KW or power please contact us to discuss your requirements.

All the water used on the property is harvested from rainfall. We ask that you please be mindful when using our water as it's an extremely scarce commodity here.
